Rarities Committee
Ecuador has no Rarities Committee for birds. We hope that a national committee will be established to collect, review and document Ecuadorian bird records. Nevertheless, it would be a shame to loose records of interesting bird observations in Ecuador because of the lack of such operating committee. Therefore, Aves Ecuador wants to give birdwatchers a possibility to report rare, scarce and interesting bird observations. Any observation that provides new information on the distribution and occurrence of a bird species in Ecuador should be reported. This includes observations of rare and scarce birds but also sightings of common species seen outside their normal range. The Birds of Ecuador Volume 1 by Ridgely and Greenfield (2001) is a good reference for the status and distribution of bird species in Ecuador. The South American Classification Committee (SACC) has been maintaining a Species List of Ecuador.

Please, try to fill in as much information as possible and try to give a full and accurate description of the bird(s). Submitted records will be stored in an archive. Hopefully, the records can be examined by a committee in the near future.
